Dear Lee,

Thank you for thinking so deeply and writing so well. I’m also thinking about the meeting place of the two worlds at the place of their intermingling.

Sharpening my awareness of the Sacred minute by minute is lots of fun and makes me feel like a young man with a life before me. Perhaps I have lots of minutes left to be flabbergasted by God’s presence. O, Lee. That sounds so good to me, but the fact is my awareness is piteously small. God’s presence is an aspiration for me. I forgive myself for being so boneheaded, and forgive myself because of the conditioning I have received from this awful culture of America. I am so grateful to you, John, Sally, and Alice for the encouragement of my quest.

I also realize I cannot forgive myself completely until I forgive everyone and everything and I can’t be truly happy until all is forgiven, and I am part of the all. 

Also, perhaps I can’t see God until all is forgiven (just a thought). - Jim

Presence - Mary

 November 23, 2021 Dear Jim, Sally, Alice, John, Nick, and Lee: I am so very touched to be included in this endeavor to feel the Presence of God among us.  Peace Be With You! The Lord be with you.  Sometimes in my heart and mind, I can feel that no time has passed since Christ walked the Earth. That there is an eternal message in Christian mysticism: that the God within me, is the same God with you—within all of us. This I first heard from Lee in a sermon, and it has stuck with me ever since!  (I am not a born again Christian, but I do resonate with Christ’s message.) Where do I end, and others begin? How can I, in a healthy way, having boundaries, move into this liminal space of I and Thou, parts of the Divine Self? I agree: our cultural conditioning almost says that if you are too generous, it’s not good! Thresholds - Lee

 Saturday November 20, 2021 Dear Jim - I just took a walk while listening to Newell’s chapter on Brigid, and I was struck by a deeper understanding of “liminal,” which you have been speaking of.  I have used “threshold” a lot in my writing to represent that place where two worlds meet. When we stand on a threshold, in this thinking, we can see and thereby  allow ourselves to be drawn into the world we are facing, as in allowing ourselves to trust intuition or listen for the soul of  another person as they talk to us.  But what I heard today adds the perspective of “interelationship” to the idea of threshold… that mysterious place, not *between* two worlds, but at the meeting place of their *intermingling.*  As we wrestle with our urgent need to reconcile the awful opposites that cause such harm these days, Brigid’s liminal wisdom draws us into the action of confluence.  Thank you so much for calling this morning and thereby leading me to this sacred fo...
